Visit the iconic Gaustatoppen
Gaustatoppen, one of Norway's most stunning and easily accessible mountains, offers a breathtaking view where you can see a sixth of Norway's landscape. Soaring to 1,883 meters in height, this destination is perfect for year-round mountain hiking and skiing. Don't miss the Gaustabanen, the cable car that takes you all the way up the mountain!
Gaustatoppen also offers a variety of exciting activities. Explore its historical treasures through guided tours or rejuvenate with freeriding. There's something for everyone on this majestic mountain peak.
Gaustabanen
Explore Gaustabanen, a unique mountain railway that takes you to the summit of Gaustatoppenin just 15 minutes. First, you'll be transported 850 meters into the mountain and then up to the peak at 1880 meters above sea level, where you can enjoy the sight of 1/6 of Norway's landscape.
This impressive railway has an exciting history, as it was originally built as part of a secret NATO facility in 1959. After NATO left the site, Gaustabanen opened to the public in 2010. Today, it's accessible year-round and has become a popular attraction, providing an easy way to experience one of Norway's most stunning mountain peaks.

Head to Kvitåvatn and the floating saunas at Gaustablikk Fjellresort, where you can take in the breathtaking view of Gaustatoppen and treat yourself to a revitalizing dip in the water between sauna sessions.
At inatur.no you can buy fishing licences, hunting licenses and rent a cabin in Norwegian nature. Here you can find fishing and hunting all over the country, and the cabins are among Norway's cheapest. Get away from the city. Get out into nature.

Boats and canoe

Gausta Activity Center offers a selection of boats for rental, including canoes, pedal boats, and rowboats, allowing visitors to choose the type of boat that best suits their preferences and experience.

Disc golf
Now you can play disc golf / frisbee golf with good friends or family at Gausta! The 9-hole course is located in nice mountain terrain. Visit Gausta Activity Center to rent frisbees and to get your scorecard.

Krossobanen
Take the shortcut to Hardangervidda with Krossobanen! Krossobanen takes you to 886 metres above sea level in just 5 minutes and is Norway's oldest two-cable car still in traffic.
On the top of Krossobanen, you can go to Hardangervidda or take a lunch at Gvepseborg café with a fantastic view over Rjukan, Gaustatoppen and the Vemork area.
