Snow-Sure Ski Resort

An investment in world-class experiences

Over the past three years, Gausta Ski Resort has invested more than 100 million NOK in a state-of-the-art snowmaking system. This commitment ensures high-quality skiing conditions from the start to the end of the season – no matter how the winter develops. Out of a total of 37 slopes, 21 have snowmaking coverage, allowing us to maintain optimal conditions for both slopes and lifts, even during mild weather periods.

As winters grow warmer, snow production has become a cornerstone for most ski resorts. At Gausta, it’s not just about technology – it’s about experience and expertise. With 250 fully automated snow guns and eight powerful pumps, close monitoring of weather conditions such as temperature, humidity, and wind is essential to ensure the best possible snow quality and placement.

Through our SnowSat GPS system, integrated into all grooming machines, we have full control over snow depth across the resort. This allows us to precisely identify where more snow is needed and optimize production. The result is smoother slopes, better resource management, and more efficient snowmaking – benefiting both the environment and our guests.

Sustainable and innovative snowmaking

At Gausta, we take sustainability and efficiency seriously. Our advanced snowmaking system is designed to use resources like electricity and water in a smart and responsible way. With real-time monitoring, we ensure optimal snow thickness on every slope, and the entire system can be operated from an iPad – a blend of technology and precision that makes us a leader in the industry. Under ideal conditions, we can produce up to 45,000 cubic meters of snow.

It’s no secret that snow production consumes a lot of energy. That’s why we focus on operating our system in a smart and sustainable way – achieving maximum effect with minimal resources. Temperature, humidity, wind, and water levels from the mountain reservoir must remain stable over time for snowmaking to run efficiently and responsibly.

Why do people say we have “perfect snow”?

Our specially developed snow mix doesn’t melt easily in mild weather and doesn’t turn to ice when temperatures drop. Snow quality is one of Gausta’s unique advantages – and the recipe is, of course, top secret. It ensures optimal conditions for a long, snow-secure winter that both we and our guests can enjoy.
