Dog sledding

Join us for a memorable dog sledding adventure through the winter landscape by Kvitåvatn. Together with the experienced mushers from Telemark Husky, you'll discover the mountains in a unique way as eager huskies pull the sled across the snow.

After the ride, warm up with a hot drink in the lavvu and spend some time meeting the dogs.


Practical Information

When: Every Thursday from 7 January to 1 April 2027 (weeks 1–13)
Time: 11:00 AM–2:00 PM
Duration: Approximately 15 minutes
Distance: Approximately 3 km circular trail
Meeting point: The lavvu by Kvitåvatn, approximately a 10-minute walk from Gausta Ski Resort and Gaustablikk Fjellresort
Price: NOK 400 per person (Weeks 7, 8 and 12: NOK 450 per person)
Suitable for: Adults and children
Important: All participants must have their own seat on the sled, including young children. Please make sure to book for the correct number of participants.
Cancellation policy: Dog sledding is weather dependent and may be cancelled due to challenging weather or trail conditions, or illness affecting the operator.

 


Good to Know

At the lavvu, you can meet the dogs and enjoy a hot drink before or after your ride. Please dress appropriately for the weather, as both the waiting time and the ride itself take place outdoors. Warm winter clothing, insulated footwear, a hat and gloves are recommended for the best experience.

How to get to the lavvu?

From the Gausta Ski Resort Parking Area (outside Stova)

  1. Walk towards the small pond outside Gaustablikk Fjellresort.
  2. Follow the footpath on the left-hand side of the pond.
  3. At the end of the building, turn left and head down towards the cross-country ski trail.
  4. After a short distance, turn right onto the path.
  5. Cross the Svartdalsløypa ski trail and continue along the snowmobile track.
  6. When the trail splits, keep right.
  7. At the next junction, keep right again and follow the shoreline with the water on your left-hand side.
  8. The lavvu will soon appear on your right.


From Gaustablikk Fjellresort

  1. As you leave the hotel, turn right towards the small pond.
  2. Follow the path on the right-hand side of the pond.
  3. Take the first path down to the right towards the cross-country ski trail.
  4. After a short distance, turn right onto the path.
  5. Cross the Svartdalsløypa ski trail and continue along the snowmobile track.
  6. When the trail splits, keep right.
  7. At the next junction, keep right again and follow the shoreline with the water on your left-hand side.
  8. The lavvu will soon appear on your right.


Good to Know

The walk to the lavvu takes approximately 10 minutes, depending on snow conditions and walking pace. Please allow plenty of time before your scheduled departure. We recommend warm clothing and sturdy winter footwear, as parts of the route may be covered in snow.
